American Pit Bull Terrier ( APBT ) Adoption

Are you thinking about adopting a Pit Bull? What a wonderful choice to make the difference for a Pit in need. Are you aware that Pit Bulls are the most discriminated against breed of dog in existence?  This is due primarily to the unwarranted negative image many in society who are ignorant and unethical media outlets seeking to sensationalize stories have unfairly placed on the Pit Bull breed.

There are many reasons why the American Pit Bull Terrier ( APBT ) is so negatively stereotyped. Some of the reasons why Pit Bulls are viewed in this way are due to an irresponsible media, inconsistent and wrongfully reported bite data, neglectful, abusive and irresponsible ownership, and even a misunderstanding of the origin of it's name "Pit" Bull. Contrary to popular belief, the name did not come from fighting Pit Bulls against each other in a fighting pit.  To learn the truth click here.

Once you have reviewed some of the American Pit Bull Terrier ( APBT ) breed characteristics and have familiarized yourself on responsible Pit Bull ownership, the next step in adopting or providing a re-home for an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is finding a shelter, rescue or individual that is friendly to Pit Bulls who have a Pit Bull available for adoption. This can be found in our Pit Bull Resource Network, which is the world's first comprehensive resource network of its kind devoted to the Pit Bull. We also have a comprehensive list of over a thousand Pit friendly rescues and shelters located here. For individuals who are seeking to find a home for a Pit in their care or to sign up as a home willing to take in a Pit you may do so by reviewing our Pit Bull Resource Network or if you are a member in our APBR Pit Bull Classifieds where we have section dedicated solely to this purpose.
